Sunday 5/11/06 Away to Wotton Rovers B.
A bright sharp November morning and the pitch in
good condition at Wotton Rovers was a good start for the proceedings for the
Fry Club B Team Girls.
Sadly things went downhill quickly from the kick
off as Wotton Rovers B Scored within the first five minutes!
Amy put Fry's back on level terms some five
minutes later with a lovely goal from the edge of the box. But Fry's then took
another blow as Charlotte who was under the weather from the kick-off had
to be substituted in the Fry's goal ! Emma bravely moved from left back to
stand between the sticks.
Fry's forward movement started to improve and
Danni made a couple of darting runs past several Wotton Rovers midfielders and
hit the post. Her other runs at this point in the game just didn't quite make
the end killer pass to either Amy or Steph. This seemed to up the pressure on
Wotton and sure enough with the next run she found Amy with a lovely pass. Amy duly
smashed the ball past the Wotton keeper, to put Fry's ahead at the
break by 2 goals to 1.
Alice volunteered to go in goal for Fry's in the
second half, and Emma returned to left back. From the kick off for the
second half ,even though the Fry Club Girls didn't play at quite their best,
they were really the only team in it and Emily Dean made the score 3-1 to Fry's after
about five minutes from the restart. The score remained the same until
the final whistle even though shots just rained in from Fry's on the
Wotton goal. Wotton got away twice in the second half and forced two
great saves from Alice the Fry's Girls stand in keeper. Thus the Fry
Club Girls recorded their second win of the season and three valuable points.
Well done girls!
Player of the match this week was Chelsea
who didn't stop working and trying to create something out of nothing!
Mentions in dispatches this week go to Danni for
trying to be everywhere at once and Emily Dean for a very determined second
half.
